In partnership with Community Youth Center, Wild Awake led a 10-week long after-school program for Aptos Middle School youth from November 2022 to January 2023.

 

Together, we discovered the hidden magic of trees through activities that included field trips to local urban forests, painting with chlorophyll, print-making with plants, and learning how to make pancakes from acorns.

Students learned that:

​

• Like tree seeds, we’re born with the knowledge of everything we need to grow.

• We all have ancestral relationships to place.

• We can always connect to land through breath, touch, and taste.

• We can expand our creativity in infinite directions, much like the branches of a tree.
